Starting July 1, the well-known cultural street of Nanluoguxiang will hold a month-long event, dubbed "cultural leisure month," with shopping vouchers worth over 100,000 yuan being distributed. On the night of June 30, the Dongcheng branch of Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce (BAIC), the district's consumer association and the Jiaodaokou sub-district office jointly announced the launch of the event. Nanluoguxiang will also compensate consumers as soon as complaints arise.

Nanluoguxiang cultural street

Now Nanluoguxiang has over 120 merchants. Chen Fengxiang, secretary-general of Dongcheng District's consumer association, said all the street's merchants will participate in the "compensation first" measure. If quality issues are found in the products or services provided, claims within 500 yuan will be compensated by the consumer association of Dongcheng District immediately.

During the "cultural leisure month," BAIC's consumer association will open a "green passage hotline 12315" to rapidly resolve disputes in Nanluoguxiang. It will distribute 30,000 "Nanluoguxiang shopping guarantee cards" to consumers and inform them of the new claims process. During the next stage, the Gui food Street, Wangfujing shopping street and key businesses including photo studios, beauty parlors and hair salons will also gradually test this new claims process.

Yu Yongjun, deputy director of the Jiaodaokou sub-district office, said that activities, including a Nanluoguxiang Hutong exhibition, free celebrity former residence tours and cultural lectures about Old Beijing will also be held during the "cultural leisure month."

Shopping vouchers: They will be worth over 100,000 yuan in total with face values of 20, 60 and 100 yuan. They can be used at more than 20 designated merchants.

Free tours to celebrities' former residences: Free entrance tickets to the Former Residence of Mao Dun and to the Wen Tianxiang Temple will be distributed.

Nanluoguxiang Hutong exhibition: an exhibition of hutongs and courtyards with photos, models and paintings.

Cultural lectures: Renowned writer Zhao Danian will be invited to talk about the charms of the old Beijing language at the multifunctional hall in the Jiaodaokou sub-district office on July 10. In the same place on July 15, experts from psychology service centers will be invited to relieve people's stress.
