Non-stop flight from Beijing to Lhasa starts next Friday

As of July 10th (next Friday), there will be a non-stop flight from Beijing to Lhasa. It takes less than 4 hours and omits the 2-hour transfer in Chengdu. Air China will arrange an Airbus A330 to make the flight.

According to Air China yesterday, from the 10th, they will be using an Airbus A330, a wide passenger aircraft, to carry out the non-stop flight from Beijing to Lhasa. Compared with former flights that connect in Chengdu, this flight could save passengers 2 hours and transfer formalities. This is the only non-stop flight between Beijing and Lhasa at present.

Managers from Air China Southwest Marketing Center said that the flight number will be CA4112. It takes off from Beijing Capital Airport at 7:00am every day, arriving in Lhasa's Gonggar Airport at 10:50am after a 3 hour 50 minute flight. There is one flight every day.

It is reported that Air China conducted test flights of the A330 at Lhasa Airport on June 26. This proved that this type of aircraft can make the journey at night. Hopefully, when Lhasa's busy season approaches, delay and cancellation of flights due to sunset will be reduced substantially.
