On September 13, Capital Airport Holding Company (CAH) in Beijing concluded cooperation memorandums and established friendship ties with Singapore Changi International Airport, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and the Paris Airports Management AƩroports de Paris Management (ADPM). Inner Mongolia Airport, a subsidiary of CAH, also signed a cooperation memorandum to become a "sister airport" with Genghis Khan International Airport of the Republic of Mongolia.
After the signing ceremony, Zhang Zhizhong, general manager of CAH, told reporters that Capital Airport would later sign a cooperation memorandum with Hong Kong International Airport, and that, in addition to a memorandum with the Athens Airport, would complete Capital Airport's program of creating friendly relationships with six large international airports.
According to Zhang, each member in the "sister airports" agreement would, in accordance with the concluded cooperation memorandum, further enhance cooperation in the following four aspects:
First, the airports will enhance regular information exchange between top leaders. CEOs will communicate with each other more frequently and exchange opinions on the future problems in the airport industry and experience of airport operation and management. Second the airports will strengthen knowledge-sharing in airport operation and management such as airside management and the launching of new airlines. In particular, the cooperation memorandum concluded with Singapore Changi International Airport and the Paris Airports Management stated clearly that both signing parties would take turns hosting symposiums on airport management and operation. Third, the airports will intensify cooperation on projects such as building the airport into an international hub, airport planning management and energy conservation and environmental protection. Fourth, the airports will reinforce personnel training and mutual exchange in order to grow together.
According to Zhang, in the first half of 2009, the number of passengers who moved through the Capital Airport ranked among the top five in the world and the level of passenger satisfaction ranked in the top ten. In the ranking of airports with a passenger throughput of more than 40 million, Capital Airport took second place. But Zhang said compared with world-class airports like Singapore Changi Airport, Capital Airport still lagged behind with regard to the service standards, management level and efforts to transform the airport into a true international hub.
Zhang Zhizhong said that the program of establishing friendly cooperation ties between CAH and other international airports aimed to draw on the experiences of foreign counterparts and improve its service and management methods in order to provide passengers with high-quality airport services. The goal of this program is that one day the standard of "Service in China" will rise in the civil aviation field.
CAH is the largest international airport in China. It consists of 36 subsidiary airports and it is known as the "No. 1 National Gate." Singapore Changi International Airport is a main civil airport in Singapore and an important aviation hub in Asia. The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is a public institution shared by two states in America and is comprised of four commercial airports and one airport for corporate aircrafts. ADPM in France is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the ADPM. |
