Chinese and US startup projects compete in Beijing
The 2018 InnoSTARS Competition-Semi-Final for Renewable Energy Group was held at Beijing Future Science Park in Changping District recently.
The competition attracted 900 startup projects from seven major innovative cities in the United States, namely Chicago, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, San Francisco, Boston and Seattle, 16 of which entered the semifinal to compete with Chinese ones.
“We are eager to enter the Chinese market which is of great potential as the Chinese government is more active in promoting the renewable energy industry than our country,” said a founder of the Flower Turbines project from the United States.
Besides entering the Chinese market, another entrepreneur from the United States expressed his cooperation intention as well. “China is now advanced in the micro-grid field, and many companies hope to cooperate with China.”
“Apart from central government-owned enterprises and large research institutes, Beijing Future Science Park also welcomes more entrepreneurial, private and international innovation teams to jointly create an atmosphere of vitality,” said an official of the administrative committee of Beijing Future Science Park.
It is learned that the renewable energy industry is one of the key industries of Beijing Future Science Park. In recent years, the number of the effective patents in the energy sector obtained by the central government-owned enterprises in the park has reached 2,114, accounting for nearly 90 percent of the total.
