Beijing renovates 100 communities’ heating pipe networks in 2018
In 2018, Beijing has completed renovating 100 old communities’ heating pipe networks, benefiting 108,000 households with clean heating during the heating season starting on November 7.
To address the overdue-service and aging problem, Beijing began to renovate old communities’ heating pipe networks in batches in 2008. By 2015, altogether 4,400 kilometers of heating pipe networks were renovated, including those of about 1,900 old communities built before 1990.
In 2016, Beijing launched a new round of renovation of old heating pipe networks with a series of financial subsidy policies and a streamlined approval process for projects.
From 2016 to this year, the municipal development and reform commission has approved 18 renovation projects of Beijing Heating Group and districts, which received a total of 540 million yuan (77.93 million U.S. dollars) of subsidies.
