Western extension of Line 6 and Phase III, IV of Line 8 to run trial 2018 end
The western extension of Beijing Metro Line 6 and the third and fourth phases of Line 8 will open to traffic at the end of 2018, according to Beijing Subway and Beijing MTR Construction Administration Corporation on December 5, 2018.
The 10.556-km-long western extension of Line 6 starts from the current Line 6’s west terminal station Wuluju of Haidian district and ends at Jin’anqiao Bridge Station, with a total of six stops.
Among them, except Pingguoyuan Station to be postponed opening, the other five stations will open to traffic at the end of 2018.
The western extension of Line 6’s Jin’anqiao Bridge Station is interchangeable with the Line S1, Beijing's first medium-low speed maglev, and the planned Line 11; Pingguoyuan Station is interchangeable with the Line S1 and Line 1 and Tiancun Station interchangeable with Line 3.
The section built during the third and fourth phases of Line 8 starts from Zhushikou Station to Yinghaizhen Station.
It can interchange with Line 7 at Zhushikou Station and Line 14 at Yongdingmenwai Station, which can ease the traffic pressure of residents in southern Beijing.
Now, the western extension of Line 6 and the third and fourth phases of Line 8 are on trial run.
