Overview
This is a brand new stage art style——Chinese zarzuela, which integrates story-telling, traditional opera, singing and dancing as a whole. It is a review and conversation across time, adding rich Shanxi flavor into super-realism technique. It is a rebuild of the traditional art, the frequently-heard Shanxi folk songs such as Zou Xikou, Xiang Qinqin will resound near audiences' ears, together with vivid and moving folk dances. It is an inquiry that touches your soul, and every narration conveys the same theme: Women's liberation is the measurement of the value of human liberation, emancipation of the mind is the pre-condition of social advancement. Famous director Zhang Jigang once again interprets his Shanxi feelings and presents the audience with Large-scale Shanxi Zarzuela Liberation, a song of love that moves the world, which is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of P. R. China.

Synopsis
The story-teller together with his little zarzuela troupe,
Told us a beautiful, yet sad love story that happened in the past…
Grandma told Xiao Xiao: "It's time for your foot-binding now, no one would marry a girl with big feet." But Xiao Xiao was unwilling to bind her feet.
Liang Liang comforted Xiao Xiao: "I will marry you despite your large feet."
Later, Liang Liang left home to earn a living and didn't come back for three years.
While waiting for Liang Liang, Xiao Xiao had grown up and become more mature.
As she was afraid her big feet might humiliate Liang Liang, she began to bind her own feet…
When Liang Liang finally returned home, he brought Xiao Xiao a pair of large-sized embroidered shoes…
