Residents in the Chinese mainland don't have to travel across the strait to visit Mount Ali in Taiwan anymore thanks to a newly opened exhibition hall in Beijing. Various aspects of Taiwan are on display, offering visitors a panoramic view of the island.
Representatives from both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan were on hand at the grand opening ceremony, backed by a saxophone performing familiar Taiwan ballads.
The opening exhibition was filled with a variety of pieces, including a prolific portfolio of pictures and video clips. The pieces illustrated an array of cultural activities and exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan.
Xie Shenshan, head of Huanlien County, the largest county in Taiwan, says over 380-thousand tourists from the mainland have visited Taiwan since direct flights across the strait began last year. He hopes the number of tourists will continue to grow.
The exhibition hall will be a permanent art venue in Beijing. The latest information on the island and displays of art will be updated every three months in order to offer variety for visitors of different age groups. |
