Stamp-collecting in China has grown increasingly popular in recent years, with the number of collectors reaching millions. The postal department issues stamps on a variety of subjects and themes, especially the stamps designate one of the 12 zodiac signs each year. The growing hobby has promoted the expansion of China's postal service and contributed to socialist, cultural and ethical progress. Great events advance stamp collecting even more that popularize the hobby nationwide like Olympic games, space exploration. Some postage stamps come in a mind-boggling assortment of sizes around 30 mm.
In the year 1955 three stamps were issued in U.S. to mark the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of United Nations. Due to the date of United Nations Organization establishment it added important significance to the rare stamps. My American friend Joan who escorted me in my visit to U.S. in 1984 came to China to attend the 1997 World Women's Congress held in Beijing. Joan visited my home and gave me a set of UN memorial stamps for the 50th anniversary of establishment as gift. The other day I posted the stamps on my Chinese blog and in a few days the blog received 260 "hits" that indicated the wonderful usage of this media by my blog.
Recently I was awarded The Honorary Certificate of Merit for appreciation for my service as adviser to eBeijing International by Beijing Municipality and that came to me with 2 albums of postage stamps in memory of Olympics issued by different states which are of great interest to readers in China. Especially my wife is an ardent collector of stamps. Hereby I would like to share the marvelous stamps with my readers as follows:
