Coming to a country where you can get kinds of experience in culture and exchange, I believe that everyone will agree with, it’s really interesting. Before to come to China, I made researches about Chinese culture, living in society, Chinese food, studies and languages. I have known eBeijing website before I came to China. That is because the website is fully helpful and nice information resources for everyone who plan or decide to join Beijing people either for study like me or any other reason.
My first experience in eBeijing volunteering activities is made on Wednesday April 13, 2011 when our interesting group takes a round to three places in rural Beijing: Daxing district.
The theme that day is experiencing Rural Beijing and tasting Farmhouse meal.
Firstly, we went to Watermelon museum, which is not known by foreigners, but is full of ancient Chinese history. The watermelon was indispensable in ancient China. The people made any kind of product with it, like beauty, medicine, food and decoration products. You can enjoy viewing kinds of watermelon in size, color, weight and history, and of course, get opportunity to taste it.
The Aerospace Science Education Base was our second visited site. There, you can see models of combos, satellites, and all other rudimentary and updated aerospace materials. You can also enjoy the rotating room, just to feel what astronauts feel in satellite. Really amusing!
From Aerospace Science Education Base, we went to Organic Pear Orchard at Pear Blossom Village, the real rural Beijing. For all foreigners who like to enjoy memorable picnic in natural flowers, with good smelling air and natural bird’s sounds, without pollution and car noises, this place is almost the best one. Other recommendation: be sure that your camera is well recharged and has sufficient memory for some hundred pictures.
We ended our trip with a memorable lunch at the unique farm house meal at Pear Blossom Village. There you can taste ancient and modern Chinese food.
Note: to visit these places, just take subway line 4 until the last station (Tiangongyuan), so take bus for proper desired place.
Thanks to eBeijing for making me experiencing rural Beijing. Sure, one day I will go to retake the same trip.
