It contains new aesthetic symbols of the southern folk custom; presents the marriage custom of Han Nationality of south China in an aesthetic and poetic way, and shows the broad and exquisite Chinese culture to the world.
Grand Red Trousseaus • Dream of A Maiden, a large-scale folk dance drama presented by Ningbo Song and Dance Ensemble through its four-year efforts, presents seven thousand years of folk custom culture of Ningbo, integrates China's southern unique marriage custom culture, shows the most solemn life ceremony of the southern maiden and also the important time in their life. From the captivating redness, the audience may experience what the graceful bride feel.
Synopsis
A grand gate is opening slowly, presenting a grand house full of redness, what a gorgeous picture! This is the legendary grand red trousseaus, presenting the best dream in the lifetime of a maiden of south China.
The dance drama presents a moving love story between two young fellows from two rich families in a southern town. A handsome boy Ayong and a pretty maiden Yuer are good friends since childhood, they fall in love with each other when they grow up. When Ayong says to Yuer "wait for me and be my bride", Yuer begins to miss and wait for him, thus the eternal "Grand Red Trousseaus Dream of a Maiden" takes shape.

Wang Xiaoying is a national class-one director, drama/director theory Dr., vice president of the National Theatre of China (NTC), and vice chairman of the Chinese Dramatists Association. He is one of the preferred talents appraised by the central publicity and cultural departments of China, and expert who gets special allowance granted by the State Council. In the past years he was awarded the titles of "the Excellent Drama Worker" and "the Outstanding Director in New Century" by the Ministry of Culture. Mr. Wang also won "Wenhua Award for Excellent Director", "Golden Lion Award for Excellent Director", "Cao Yu Drama Award for Excellent Director", "the Best Critics Award, "the Excellent Director Award" in the Chinese Drama Festival, "the Excellent Director Award" in the Chinese Small Theater Drama Festival, "China Literary Criticism Award", "The Best Works Award" and many other national awards.
