Beijing Hebei Bangzi Opera Troupe
Established in 1960, Beijing Hebei Bangzi Opera Troupe is headed by WANG Hongling at present. The first head of the troupe was LI Guiyun, a celebrated Hebei Bangzi Opera performing artist.

Hebei Bangzi Opera features resounding, stirring, delicate and euphemistic aria. Since its establishment, this troupe has rehearsed and performed over 200 plays varying in subject matter and style. Among them, WANG Baochuan, Butterfly Cup, An Unjust Charge of DOU E and other traditional plays enjoy great popularity with enduring appeal, becoming classics in its repertoire.

This troupe boasts six winners of the “Plum Awards” of Chinese drama – LIU Yuling (Erdumei), WANG Fengzhi, LI Er’e, PENG Yanqin, WANG Hongling and WANG Yinghui, and a large number of performing artists with consummate performance skills and unique style. Since 1990s, a galaxy of excellent young actors have stood out, and new works and traditional play revivals staged, including dozens of traditional plays like full-length WANG Baochuan, CHEN Sanliang, Breeze Pavilion, An Unjust Charge of Dou E, Golden River Bridges, White Silk Gown and ZHOU Ren Sacrifices His Sister-in-Law, the transplanted modern play Village Official LI Tiancheng, original modern plays Mother's Heart, Eighteen Miles of Fragrance, A Disappearance Foretold and original plays Establishing a Capital and Northland Beauty. The troupe has repeatedly visited Greece, South Korea, Colombia and other countries as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan to make cultural exchanges by presenting The City of Thebes, Medea and other plays.
