About

If you were to ask me which country’s fathers have the highest index of happiness, I would without hesitation tell you they are the fathers of Sweden, who can enjoy 16 months of parental leave. Relishing the joys of family life for 480 days, while collecting a federal stipend--is the word sweet enough?

They say research has shown that men who take paternity leave do live longer. But, let’s take a closer look at a Swedish father, who is supporting his family, in addition to a disavowing a mother-in-law, and missing out on paternal bliss amid allegations that his wife is having an affair. The mighty three stars of his captain’s insignia don’t carry much weight at home anymore, while the problem is eating him alive.

“You! How can you prove that you are the father of your child?”

August Strindberg (1849-1912) is a Swedish playwright, the founder of modern Swedish literature and father of modern world drama.

“Ah! You are passionate, strong, and weak, Strindberg! You are the Strindberg who is trusting, yet suspicious, brave, yet cowardly, full of love, yet full of hatred, poetic, yet insipid, at times undyingly devoted, at times totally indifferent!” By this quote, we can imagine how mysterious and complex a man Strindberg was.
