Xicheng(West City)District covers an area of 30 square kilometers.  This district is divided into 10 neighborhood committees with a population of about 750,000. Zhongnanhai(Central & South Sea),the seat of the Party's Central Committee,is located in this district.Xidan commercial district and financial institutions are concentrated here as well.The Forbidden City,Beihai Park,the Round City,and Zhongshan (which is named after Dr Sun Yatsen) Park are also located in this district. Its GDP was 19.5 billion Yuan(US$ 2.3 billion)in 2000, which was 13.4 percent higher over the previous year.
