The Beijing Municipal Supervision Bureau has the following main functions:

1. Take charge of the administrative supervision work of the city and implement the state laws and regulations on administrative supervision and relevant municipal decisions; examine the problems on the part of city-level state administrative organs in observing and implementing laws and regulations and municipal decisions and orders; undertake anti-corruption tasks entrusted by the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government.

2. Handle accusations and impeachment on violation of the administrative disciplines by the city-level state organs and their civil servants, other personnel appointed by the city-level state organs and district and county governments and their leading officials; and handle appeals from the above-mentioned people against the administrative penalties and other appeals to be handled by the supervisory organs according to state laws and administrative regulations.

3. Investigate and punish breaches of administrative disciplines by the city-level state organs and their civil servants, other personnel appointed by the city-level state organs and district and county governments and their leading officials; and if necessary, handle the supervision within the purview of the subordinate supervisory organ.

4. Conduct research on theories of supervision and related issues; organize the drafting of local regulations and provisions on administrative supervision.

5. Carry out effective outreach campaigns on principles, policies, laws and regulations on administrative supervision; organize and guide the training of supervision professionals in the city.

6. Oversee the work of supervision commissions sent by the Municipal Supervision Bureau to government departments.

7. In line with relevant authorization and division of labor, manage the supervision professionals, and conduct inspection on main officials of the Supervision Bureaus in all districts and counties.

8. Undertake other duties assigned by the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government, and the Ministry of Supervision.
