Resume of Vice-Mayor Zhang Jiandong
Mr. Zhang Jiandong, of Han nationality, born in Laoting, Hebei Province in July 1962, joined the Communist Party of China in December 1982, and then started his career in August 1983. He is a researcher, associate professor, has a PhD in Management, obtained his master’s degree (majoring in Education Economics and Management) from an in-service graduate program at Beijing Normal University, and is currently Vice Mayor of Beijing, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, and Executive Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Organizing Committee of Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The previous leadership positions he held include:
Deputy Secretary and then Secretary of the Communist Youth League of Beijing Institute of Technology;
Chief of the College and Technical Secondary School Department of the Communist Youth League Beijing Municipal Committee;
Deputy Director General and member of the Party Leadership Group of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Higher Education;
Deputy Secretary of the CPC Capital Normal University Committee;
Member of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee; Deputy Director-General of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education;
Deputy Secretary-General (director-general level) of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality;
Deputy Party Secretary, Acting District Mayor and then Mayor of Beijing Xicheng District;
Secretary of CPC Beijing Huairou District Committee;
Director-General and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission.
Mr. Zhang Jiandong is in charge of sports and preparations for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Mr. Zhang Jiandong oversees the work of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and Beijing Olympic City Development Center.
