Resume of Vice-Mayor Wang Ning

Mr. Wang Ning, of Han nationality, Born in Qingxu, Shanxi Province in December 1960, began his career in March 1983 and joined the Communist Party of China in February 1987. He is a Senior Policy Researcher, obtained his master’s degree in economics from an in-service graduate program at Peking University (major in finance). He is currently Vice Mayor of Beijing, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, and concurrently the Vice Chairman of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation.

The previous leadership positions he held include:

Secretary of the Communist Youth League of Daxing County Committee;

Deputy Director and then Director of the Department of Suburban Area, Communist Youth League of Beijing Municipal Committee;

Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League of Beijing Municipal Committee;

Vice President of Beijing Youth Political College, Chairman of Beijing Youth Federation;

Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Deputy Director General, then Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director General of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports;

Director of the Department of Cultural Activities, Beijing Olympic Committee; Executive Deputy Director of the Department of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Director of the Operation Center of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies;

Party Secretary of Xuanwu District; and Party Secretary of Xicheng District.

 

Mr. Wang Ning is in charge of education, religion and ethnic affairs, civil affairs, tourism, culture, social construction, work safety, cultural heritage, and ethical and ideological development.

Mr. Wang Ning oversees the work of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Municipal Commission of Ethnic Affairs (Beijing Religious Affairs Bureau), Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Beijing Social Construction Office, Beijing Administration of Work Safety, State-owned Cultural Assets Supervision and Administration Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyright), Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage, Information Office of Beijing Municipal People’s Government, Beijing Cultural Market Law Enforcement Corps (Beijing Office for Crackdown on Pornographic and Illegal Publications), and Beijing Municipal Committee Office for Local Gazetteer Compilation.

Mr. Wang is in charge of liaison with garrison of Beijing Municipality, Taiwan Affairs Office of Beijing Municipal Government and CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Beijing Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, Communist Youth League Municipal Party Committee, Beijing Women’s Federation, and Beijing Disabled Persons’ Federation.
