Dong Lai Shun

Dating to 1903, this is one of Beijing's oldest Hui (Chinese Muslim) restaurants. Its specialty is a mutton dish famous for three attributes: paper-thin slices, high-quality meat, and an excellent dipping sauce. The hotpot dishes are amazingly flavorful: the best part is near the end, when the broth reaches a tongue-tingling climax. If you like, drop some cilantro into the bowl. Zhima shaobing (small baked sesame bread) is the perfect accompaniment. |
