China Aviation Museum

China Aviation Museum is located in the foot of fascinating Xiao Tang Hill in Chang Ping County in Beijing suburb. It covers an area of 1,000 mu. On November 11, 1989, it was opened to the outside in the 40th Anniversary of the Founding of Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. On April, 1991, the air force official ratified its name as "Air Force Aviation Museum". In the foreign exchanges, in is called as China Aviation Museum. The aviation museum is the largest aviation cultural relics concentration place in Asia with the main exhibition of airplane cultural relics. And it is the sole integrative large-scaled aviation tourism amusement center. At present, it collected more than 200 airplanes with the types exceeding 100, and weapon and equipped samples like ground-air missile, high cannon, radar, aviation bomb and aviation cameras. Among which, lots of them are the precious cultural relics of the country and world aviation treasure works. It reveals the starting up and flourish developing of new China's aviation course to the people by using its abundance material objects as well as the full and accurate historic documents. The first phase of the Aviation Museum covers an area of 220,000 square meters with the construction acreage of 30,000 square meters. It is composed of three main parts like outdoor exhibition place, cavity main exhibition hall, aviation technology exhibition hall and other accessory equipments. The spectators feel like being placed into a world of flying when they enter into the museum. There are various too many kinds of airplanes for the eye to take in. Chairman Mao Zedong's special airplane series airplane exhibition is displayed in the outdoor exhibition place, where it displayed Chairman Mao's special airplane in four different types, namely, Yier-18, Yier-14, Li-2 and C-47. After being reformed, the scene that Chairman Mao once seated on the airplane is reappeared. In the engine room of Yier-14 airplane, there are a desk, two desk lamps and one simple but neat bed. The carpet and pillow cover are just what Chairman Mao used in the past. The large-scale airplanes in the outdoor exhibition place includes the captures in the Liberation War, the airplanes of the "two airline companies" revolt, DC-8 airplanes that is the contribution of International Aobisi(pinyin) Organization to China Aviation Ophthalmic Hospital, and foreign airplanes imported by the new China. The outward appearance of the cavity exhibition hall looks like a bend bow. Its acreage is more than 24,000 square meters. The cavity main exhibition hall displays lots of airplane cultural relic precious works that are arranged in line with the historic period and the works mainly based on the material objects. "Feng Ru No. 2" Airplane is one of the airplane exhibitions that elaborately reproduced by the aviation museum. Feng Ru is China's first airplane designer, producer and aeroplanist, he is also the first Chinese who won the Aeroplanist Certificated issued by International Aviation Association. On December 7, 1903, the airplane that was designed and produced by American Wright brothers succeed in its experimental flying at first time in the world. Within 6 years later, a Chinese named Feng Ru also succeed in flying his self made airplane. Its flying height and distance far exceeds that of the Wright brothers. All of the "Leshiwen No. 1", "Lenin", "Yi-16 Airplane", "Chinese People Voluntary Air Force", "Chinese Young Pioneers" and "Chang Xiangyu" airplanes and etc have attractive stories. In the leftside of the exhibition hall, it displayed the first airplane made by the new China named "Chujiaowu", and later on the airplanes in the types of "Qian Five", "Qian Six", "Qian Seven", "Qian Eight", "Qian Twelve", "Qiang Five" and "Zhi Five", etc. It systematically reveals the forceful lineup of the People's Air Force and vividly displays the mileage of flourish development mileage of new China's aviation industry. In the aviation technology exhibition hall, there are aviation camera equipment exhibition, aeroplanist personal protection equipment exhibition and world famous airplane models exhibition and etc.
