The Concert Hall of the National Library of China is a subdominant state-owned enterprise of the National Library of China that is directly under the Ministry of Culture. It is located north of the Purple Bamboo Park, south of Zhongguancun High-tech Park. There are numerous research units and universities and colleges, the cultural atmosphere is rich, and the traffic is convenient. The parking lot is wide,the equipments are first rate,and the environment is beautiful. The auditorium seating is divided into two stories, altogether 1120 seats. The hall is spacious and bright, and the audio visual effect is quite good. The predecessor is Beijing Tuxin Culture and Arts Cinema. Since it was founded in 1989,it has mainly organized conferences and culture art exchange activities,engaged in receiving performances both here and abroad, and showed films. In 1997, the cinema invested and changed the equipments to DOLBY numeral stereo film sound equipment, at the same time renewed and enlarged the film screen,and has attracted large number of audience with its novel and unique artistic style to make the audience gain spiritual enjoyment.

In recent years, with the increasing social public cultural requirements, the cultural consumers tend to become diversified. The National Library of China is located in Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park in Haidian District. There are numerous colleges and universities, scientific research institutes and high-tech companies. The talents concentrate here. They not only needs good working environment, but also needs high-grade cultural art life, especially elegant music. While in Zhongguancun area or even west part of Beijing city, there is no performance place with complete facilities for elegant music. Therefore it is decided that the original theatre that is mainly used for organizing meetings and films shall be rebuilt to a concert hall so that it can become the first elegant music hall in west part of Beijing city.

In two years, the Concert Hall of the National Library of China invested more than three million yuan for the reconstruction by stages. The engineers and technicians from the National Theatre of China designed it, and the reconstruction was carried out for the stage and the supporting facilities.

After the reconstruction,the Concert Hall of the National Library of China still keeps the diversified functions, and can show films,perform single curtain dramas,hold all kinds cultural art lectures and large-scale conferences. The Concert Hall of the National Library of China will combine its own advantages of the region and the characteristics of the National Library of China,aiming at spreading elegant music art knowledge, open completely to universities, middle schools and primary schools, and research units around it, hold all kinds of Chinese and foreign concerts regularly, hold special performance of music popularization for students, hold weekend concerts,masters' music appreciation, holiday music club etc.. Relying on the advantages of Zhongguancun High-tech Development Zone,we strive to make the Concert Hall of the National Library of China really become "the music hall in China's Silicon Valley".

The Concert Hall of the National Library of China will concentrate on cultural cause and promulgate elegant arts, hold characteristic art performances and carry out all kinds of cultural and art training activities to make the concert hall into a cultural industry field combined with education, trainings, cultural diffusion, and entertainment.
