Century Theater is a high-grade theater that has the advanced level in 1990s. The theater mainly focused on playing large-scale operas, modern dramas and ballets, it also provides the advanced sound feedback equipment for the large-scale symphonies. It is the most advanced, fullest equipped and best-conditioned theater designed in China.

Its center stands high and upright in China International Youth Communication Center (Sino-Japan Youth Communication) at the side of Beijing Liangma River. It is the symbols of the fruit of the cooperation between China and Japan and everlasting friendship between the Chinese and Japanese people. It is proposed by the Japanese Prime Minister, Zhongcenggen Kanghong (pinyin), who paid a visit to China in 1984, and the General Secretary of China Communist Party, Hu Yaobang.

It is the large-scale international culture exchange equipment built by using the free aids of Japanese government and the fund allotted by the Chinese government. It covers an area of 55,000 square meters. It was built up by the collaborative design and construction of the engineers of both China and Japan.

It model is quite unique that melted with the idea of tradition architecture aesthetic and modern aesthetic. It is an outstanding building in the architecture history of Beijing. The main body of the center is composed of the Century Theater, International Conference Hall, Education Research and Study Building, Audio and Video Products Producing Center, Silver Olive Swimming Gymnasium and tennis court, and 21st Century Hotel, etc. It has advanced equipment and full functions and is an ideal place for conducting large-scale international exchange activities.

It once receipts lots of international politicians and VIPs, such as lots of former Prime Ministers of Japan, the president of Germany, vice president of the United Nations. Lots of the Chinese leaders of the Party and the country, such as President Jiang Zemin, Prime Minster Li Peng, Chairman Li Ruihuan once visited the center many times and expressed their care of the development of the Chinese and foreign culture exchange cause and the development of the center.

Nowadays, the China International Youth Communication Center (Sino-Japan Youth Communication) holds the exchange activities in various forms, such as artistic performance, researching, studying and teaching, physical education exchange and tourism. It has become a channel for the communication between the Chinese and foreign youth.
