Most major banks, including the Bank of China, China Construction Bank, China Merchants Bank and ICBC, offer credit cards with Visa or Master­Card.

These work like any other credit card and can be used internationally. Different banks have different requirements for foreign applicants, who must be employed in Beijing. Merchants Bank's requirements are relatively simple: a passport, residence permit, and employment and income certificate (with company chop affixed).
