Askar U. Mamin

Born in 1965. Graduated from Tselinograd Construction-Engineering Institute, the Plekhanov Russian Economic Academy with majors in construction engineering and economics.
Started as installer at Tselintyazhstroi Trust, later became an entrepreneur. Worked as Deputy Director General of the Union of Innovation Enterprises of Kazakhstan, Director General of a joint Kazakh-German enterprise. From 1996 till 2004 – First Deputy Akim (Mayor) of Akmola city, Deputy Chairman of administrative board of Akmola special economic zone, Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications, First Vice-Minister of industry and Trade.
Since August 2005 – Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In September 2006 appointed Akim (Mayor) of Astana city.
