A Committee is appointed by the Council from the Councilors. Each Committee comprises a minimum of 5 but is not to exceed 9 councilors. A Committee is authorized to investigate and monitor the Executive Board's performance. There are at present 11 General Committees.
1. The Committee of the Cleanliness and Environment
The committee’s responsibilities are to act, investigate any study and issues under the responsibilites of the city of Bangkok in the field of cleanliness and environment in order to find solutions to any problems and difficulties in actions and give suggestions and advices to the Excutive Board and duly report to the council.The objective is reduce the amount of garbage, used objects and waste material to the minimum for the betterment of environment.
2. The Committee for Checking the Minutes of the Sittings and for Considering Closure of the Minutes of the Secret Sitting
The Committee’s responsibilites are as follows;
⑴ Check the correctness of the drafted minutes of meeting prepared by officers in accordance with the actual discussion and the grammar usuage.
⑵ Consider any councilors request to correct the minutes during the meeting. After its due consideration, the council must endorse the final corrected version of the minutes.
⑶ Set a standard of procedures for minutes of meeting preparations such as providing Thai translation of foreigns words used during the discussion.
⑷ Consider outsiders request to release draft minute of meetingnot yet endorsed by the council as assigned by the Chairman.
3. The Committee for the Affairs of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council
The Committee’s responsibilites are as follows;
⑴ Accelerate the executives to take actions in complliance with the council’s resolutions, recommendations and observations on any issues.
⑵ Promote the council’ affairs.
⑶ Handle complaints and recommendations concerning the affairs of the council from members of both Bangkok Metrpolitan Council and District Council, government agencies and public.
⑷ Set rules and measures on the rights, duites and responsibilites, and codes of conduct of both Bangkok Metrpolitan Council and District Council.
⑸ Support the studies, skills and experiences of both Bangkok Metrpolitan Council and District Council.
4. The Committee for the Public Works and Utilities
The committee’s responsibilities are to act, investigate any study and issues under the responsibilites of the city of Bangkok in the field of public works and city planning.
5. The Committee for Education and Culture
The Committee for the Education and Culture was set up according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Council’s resolution. It comprises of 9 members of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council. The Committee’s responsibilites are to follow up, advise, promote and investigate the management of issues under the responsibilites of the Bangkok Metropolitan Adminstration’s Affliated schools in the field of education and culture.
6. The Committee for Health
The committee’s responsibilities are to act, investigate any study and issues under the responsibilites of the city of Bangkok in the field of health in order to find solutions to any problems and difficulties in actions and give suggestions and advices to the Excutive Board and duly report to the council.
7. The Community for Community Development and Social Welfare
The Committee’s responsibilites are as follows;
⑴ Follw up , advise, promote and investigate the management of issues under the responsibilites of the City of in the field of community development and social welfare, which are considered the main mechanism for social and human development. Thus, it would lead to an improvement of the quality of life, and sustainable community development.
⑵ Study and investigate any issues under the responsibilites of the city of Bangkok in the field of community development and social welfare by identifying the sources of diificulties and problems.
8. The Committee for Local Administration and Orderliness
The committee’s responsibilities are to administer, registrar, prevent accident, handle public compliants, the study and recommendtions on the city development in the democratic environment in order to find solutions to any problems and difficulties in actions and give suggestions and advices to the Excutive Board and duly report to the council.
9. The Committee for Economics, Finance and Follow up of Budget Utilization
The committee’s responsibilities are to act, investigate any study and issues under the responsibilites of the city of Bangkok in the field of economic, finance, budget, revenue collection, land development, Bankok Metropolitan Administration’s commerce, market development, social welfare of officials and employees as well as co-ordination and follow of the annual budget utilization in order to find solutions to any problems and difficulties in actions and give suggestions and advices to the Excutive Board and duly report to the council.
10. The Committee for Tourism and Sports
The committee’s responsibilities are to act, investigate any study and issues under the responsibilites of the city of Bangkok in the field of tourism and sports as well as coordinate with outside orgainzation in order to find solutions to any problems and difficulties in actions and give suggestions and advices to the Excutive Board and duly report to the council.
11. The Committee for Traffic, Transportation and Drainage
The committee’s responsibilities are to act, investigate any study and issues under the responsibilities of the city of Bangkok in the field of for Traffic, Transportation and Drainage in order to find solutions to any problems and difficulties in actions and give suggestions and advices to the Excutive Board and duly report to the council.
