The 13th China Beijing International Cultural & Creative Industry Expo (the ICCIE 2018) under the theme of “lead high-quality development of the cultural industry and support building of the national cultural center” will be held in Beijing from October 25 to 28. During ICCIE 2018, the 2nd ASEAN Culture Week as a part of the expo’s multifaceted platform consisting of comprehensive activities, exhibitions and displays, promotions and transactions, forums and meetings, creative activities and parallel sessions will be unveiled at China International Exhibition Center (the old Venue).
This year marks the 15th anniversary since the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership, and also designated as China-ASEAN Innovation Year. The 2nd ASEAN Culture Week seeks to take this opportunity to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two sides and facilitate bilateral cultural exchanges, pushing forward the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative. As a joint effort between CCPIT Beijing and embassies of the 10 ASEAN member countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) in China, the 2nd ASEAN Culture Week will be organized by MULU (Beijing) Culture Development Co., Ltd. under the theme of “ASEAN and the Orient, Integration and Convergence” with “spice” chosen as a witness to the ever-lasting China-ASEAN friendship. Audience will be treated with pleasurable visual and gustatory experience in a harmonious atmosphere where the ten ASEAN countries will display their unique exoticism.
Adhering to the concept of “integration”, the 2nd ASEAN Culture Week hopes to cultivate a better understanding of ASEAN’s cultural, economic and social development among the audience through cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and encourage ASEAN youth to take their part in the “Belt and Road” initiative, with a particular highlight given to parent-child and education related activities between China and ASEAN. The ASEAN Culture Week is designed as a parallel session under ICCIE 2018 and covers an area over 300 square meter for display and exhibition. It is going to be an in-depth and eye-opening showcase of the cultural glamour, providing domestic audience with an opportunity to taste ASEAN culture without going abroad.
The exhibition area of ASEAN Culture Week is made up of the Tropical Rainforest Zone and Ethnic Costume & Musical Instruments Zone, offering an authentic experience of the tropical rainforest glamour and bringing the audience as close as possible to the cultural and ethnic uniqueness of Southeast Asian nations. At the Food Bazaar Zone, new Southeast Asian snacks will be available, while the MULU Restaurant in Beijing offers its signature Southeast Asian cuisines. Additionally, the Belt and Road Exchange Camp for Chinese and ASEAN teenagers will be a particular highlight at the Culture Week, an opportunity for children involved to develop and grow up. The main stage of ASEAN Culture Week will be filled with a diversity of performances lasting for four days. The splendid audio-visual feast prepared by ASEAN countries embassies in China and tourism agencies will be presented during ICCIE 2018.
During the Culture Week, representatives from China and ASEAN in different walks of life will promote the bilateral cultural exchanges in forms of music, creative culture, food, tourism and garment in a joint effort to build up and share innovation-oriented thinking, topics, ideas and vision. At the same time, parent-child and education related activities will be held to cultivate an inter-cultural atmosphere for sound family education. Also at the Culture Week, the Sarawak Rainforest Wonderful Journey as part of the Exchange Camp for Chinese and ASEAN teenagers will be launched and co-organized by MATRADE, Tourism Malaysia, Thai Chamber of Commerce in China, Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China and Sarawak-China Friendship Association.
