Yu Chang-hai was born on March 3rd,1941; birthplace: Hebei province china national arts & crafts master; Beijing municipal superfine arts & crafts master.

Yu Chang-hai entered Beijing Third Jade Carving Production Cooperation in 1956 for apprentice and began to learn of jade carving skill ,follows the famous artisan Li Huan-ting and Xu Mao-lin£®In 1962£¬he took part in the training course of inherited the traditional jade carving techniques£®In this training course£¬he studied carefully the famous artisans` jade carving workmanship ,and improve his own fine arts theory£®Later he began to design & create jade carving works by himself£®

Mr.Yu's works feature: uses jade materials very carefully£¬exquisite workmanship£¬fine carving£¬and adopts of various carving workmanship according to materials£¬and seeks the complete works` elegant, simple£¬generousness and taste£®Mr.Yu has broken some traditional method of jade carving and innovates a new way in selection of themes according jade material£®

Mr. Yu is the technical advisor of the manufacture the "Four Jadeite National Treasures,"and is the head designer of works of "Opulent Flower Potpourri Perfumer"which won the "Gold Cup Prize¡± (the rare masterpiece) of China National Arts & Crafts Hundred¡ªFlower Awards in 1990£®

The Works of "Arhat Potpourri Perfumer" obtained the "First Prize" of the excellent design & creation of china national Arts & Crafts Hundred¡ªFlower Awards in 1982£®

His works of "Inlaid Gems & Golden Wires Wine Sets" acquired the "Second Prize" of the excellent design & creation of china national Hundred¡ªFlower Awards in 1984£®

On Aug.2004, Mr.Yu acts as the head design & manufacture, the "Seal Treasure" of Beijing 29th Olympic Games.
