Product Explain :
One of the 4 national treasures of jadeite carving ware. The handle and two strips each with 32 ring are carved from the same complete material. The basket is full of exquisite carved flowers of peony, chrysanthemum, magnolia, china rose and mountain chrysanthemum. Some other flowers are also interspersed in basket. The branches & leaves texture of flowers are carved vividly. It expressed that a hundred flowers run for beauty and a prosperous view.

Author Synopsis :
Gao Xiang was 13 years old when he began woking at Gu Chengzhao Jade Article Studio as an apprentice, and learned jade carving from the famous jade carving master GuCheng zhao. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked with famous craftsmen Liu Deying and Chen Wenzhong at Yingchangxiang, and at other jade workshops.
After the founding of New China, Gao specialized in the design and production of jade carvings of flowers and refined the older rough techniques of carving flowers. Finally he developed his own unique artistic style featuring the proper novel and vivid shapes, and excellent workmanship. His works abound with wit and humor. Gao was an advisor on the design and production of the "Four National Treasures," and is the main designer of "Beautiful and Fragrant Flowers," one of the "Four National Treasures," also winning the national Hundred-Flower Awards for Excellent Arts and Crafts`s Golden Cup for rare pieces in 1990.
His "Autumn Scene Vase" came second in a national competition on jade carvings of flowers. "Three Flowers Vase" came first national competition of jade carvings of flowers in 1980. With "In Autumn" he won the national Hundred-Flower Awards for Excellent Arts and Crafts`Hope Cup in1982. |
