The interchange at Yonghegong Lama Temple station can be a bit complex.
Passengers on Line 2 transferring to Line 5 use the interchange passageway as directed by the signage. Those changing to Line 5 keep right and enter a separate, uni-directional passageway. After a flight of stairs and a turn to the left, they then arrive at the Line 5 part.
Passengers on Line 5 transferring to Line 2 are left with a somewhat more difficult interchange to use. Some escalators or stairs are exit only, while some are interchange only. Passengers changing to Line 2 are to follow the Line 2 signs closely. After a flight of stairs, passengers then turn right and reach the Line 2 part of the station. |

Lines 2 and 5 use different exits, although by means of the interchange passageways, all exits are accessible. Therefore, it is possible for a Line 2 passenger to exit using any Line 5 exit after passing through the interchange passageway; equally, a passenger entering through a Line 5 "box" (exit) can access Line 2 after using the interchange passageway.
Line 2 uses three exits; Line 5 uses four exits, thereby bringing the total number of exits at Yonghegong Lama Temple station to seven.
