Beijing saw steady economic development in 2016. Its economic operation remained stable will further enhance the quality of development.
In terms of sectors, Beijing features a very strong service economy with 80.3% of the total GDP. The primary and secondary industries are only 0.5% and 19.2% respectively. High end services, including financial, information and high-tech played an important role in the last year.
Also, tourism will play more and more an important role of Beijing's GDP. In 2016 we experienced a steady development with 4.6% more visitors year on year.
Beijing has a very low unemployment reate. In 2016, a total of 428.000 new urban jobs were created. The proportion of employed population in urban households remained at around 50%.
