Beginning in June and ending in August, the Beijing summer is hot and humid, with average mean temperatures peaking at 30.2 degrees Celsius in August, with the exception of the hilly areas where it is colder. The high temperatures are lasting, and there's small temperature difference between day and night. The precipitation in summer accounts for 70% of the whole year, mainly in the form of the heavy rainfalls. Green spaces in Beijing such as parks and mountains become especially verdant due to the moisture.
