The former residence of Soong Ching Ling, late honorary chairwoman of the People's Republic of China, is a major national historical and cultural site education center. The residence is preserved in the state it was in when Soong Ching lived and worked there, and there is a museum celebrating her life. Since the residence opened to the public in May 1982 it has had more than 200,000 visitors annually and conducted hundreds of exchange activities both local and international. It is a treasure trove of Sun Yat-sen and Soong Ching Ling memorabilia and an authoritative site for researching Soong Ching Ling's life, promoting her legacy and promoting Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges.
