During the Qin and Han dynasties, the unified feudal state contributed to the vigorous growth of sport activities in a new historical backdrop. Besides inheriting the pre-Qin forms of sports, the sport activities had a larger scale and new forms, with increased competitiveness and entertaining elements. Various dancing and musical performances were draw on by the ruling class. Jiao Di, an ancient Chinese form of wrestling flourished and had a relatively stable performing form. What's worth mentioning is the prevalent Cu Ju, an ancient Chinese form of soccer, which developed into a competition with definite rules and grounds. The art of attack and defence in Wushu turned to be standardized. Health care and maintenance and some recreational activities such as Baixi which had a strong sport trait were of characteristics.
Sports in this period were influential in history, which marked the formal development of ancient sports in unified China.
