Lost Passport & Property Report for Aliens
1. Losing passport in Beijing Foreigners who lost their passports should come to the Exit-Entry Department to obtain the lost report, and then go to their own embassy to claim new exit-entry certificates. For the lost report, the following documents should be presented: a. the report by local police department or station where you lost your passport; b. one photocopy of the lost passport; other IDs (ID card, driving license, working card, seamen's ID, national insurance card) or their photocopies; for those who do not have any ID certificates, the citizenship confirmation letter from their embassies is needed; c. temporary residence certificate; for those living in hotels and apartments, they should present the check-in certificate, but for those having bought apartments or living in Chinese citizens'homes, they should go to local police stations for the temporary residence certificate; d. foreigners who are here invited by Chinese institutions should present an introduction letter by relevant parties, e.g. employers, inviting companies, travel agencies; e. one 2-inch photo; f. please come to No 12 at the second floor of the Exit-Entry Department for the report. 2. Losing property in Beijing Foreigners who lost their properties should immediately report the case to the local police department or station. For the Lost Property Report, the following documents should be presented: a. passport; b. the report by local police department or station where you lost your property; c. temporary residence certificate; for those living in hotels and apartments, they should present the check-in certificate, but for those having bought apartments or living in Chinese citizens'homes, they should go to local police stations for the temporary residence certificate; d. foreigners who are here invited by Chinese institutions should present an introduction letter by relevant parties; e. embassy note in case of losing diplomats'ID; f. documents that can prove the value of the lost property and support the insurance claim (e.g. invoice, customs declaration paper, overseas insurance certificate, credit card's number, materials of the cheque's bank etc.) g. the Lost Property Report is not for the lost cash; h. please come to No 12 at the second floor of the Exit-Entry Department for the report.
