Opening Ceremony of World Photographers Focusing on Beijing

Philipp Neumann (Germany)

In view of the this year´s `World Photographers Focusing on Beijing` (The first world-photographer event was held in 1999), 10 world-famous photographers from Germany, Japan, Serbia, France and the USA were invited to come to Beijing, creating the opportunity to discover new aspects/views of Beijing.

This event is also a chance to experience Beijing´s diversity and to grasp Beijing´s fast process of developpment, which is very challenging. Moreover it gives the opportunity to build new contacts and worldwide friendships.

On Spetember 26th , Wang Hui, director of the Information Office of Beijing Municipality, opened this event at Guigong Fu in Dongcheng district.

One of the photographers named Trey Ratcliff from Texas in the U.S.A. said: There has to be a story behind the picture. The picture has to tell a story, sending a message to the viewer. Consequently, the viewer will become curious and fascinated about the picture. Then, the viewer starts to interact with the picture, creating his own personal story about the picture. This should be the aim of every photographer and that is exactly what he also would like to do in Beijing.

Besides, there is also the possibility to learn from the professionals, by going out photographing with them.

I was really impressed with all of the photographers, including their different projects, ideas and inspirations.

All these informations and new impressions I received during this ceremony, also open my perspective on this type of work.

Take a look at my Blog which will be published soon at www.ebeijing.gov.cn. There you will find more daily adventures in Beijing and hopefully some pictures which you like.
