A total of 30 distinguished candidates of 42 countries were attending the final rounds of the Mandarin Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students,
Competition this year was held at CCTV on August 30th 2009.
Competitors were required to give lectures in the Chinese language, answer questions on Chinese culture and other knowledge. They contested for six top prizes, six second prizes and 18 third prizes.
Apart from competitions, candidates will also have tours in Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao to experience local customs and lives. Prize winners will receive scholarships sponsored by the Chinese government to allow further study in China.
The Arabian candidate won the honorary title of Mandarin Star.
Demand for learning the Chinese language has seen a quick rise in recent years, as China deepens its opening up policies and makes economic achievements.
The finalists will be fortunate to attend the Chinese Culture Experience Tour.
They obtained certificates, souvenirs presented by the Competition Organizing Committee.
