Beijing Botanical Garden was established in 1956 with the approval from the State Council. Incorporating scientific research, knowledge popularization and sight-seeing functions as a whole, the garden encompasses a planned area of 400 hectares, and mainly collects, exhibits and preserves the botanical resources originated from North, Northeast and Northwest China.
Beijing Botanical Garden is characterized by gorgeous sceneries. It is a paradise for natural flora, as well as an attraction for sight-seeing. In the completed 200-hectares open zone consisting of a plant exhibition area, a place of historical interest area, a natural conservation area and a research area, over 560,000 plants of more than 5,000 kinds have been planted. The vegetation exhibition zone comprises ornamental plant area, forest area, miniascape garden and greenhouse flower zone.
