Lenovo Group was established in 1984 by 11 technicians with an investment of RMB 200 thousand Yuan from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It accomplished the acquisition of IBM's personal computer business in May 2005, and has now developed into a large-scale group with multi-business in Information Industry.
Currently, Lenovo is headquartered at Purchase, New York (USA), with two operation centers, one in Beijing (China) and the other in Raleigh (N.C. of USA). The new Lenovo's sale network stretches to a much larger area in the world with the efforts of its own sale organizations, its partners, and through the alliance with IBM. It has over 19,000 employees worldwide and has R&D centers set in cities of Beijing, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Chengdu and Shanghai in China, Tokyo in Japan and Raleigh in N.C. of USA.
